My husband & I don't drink wine but we decided to stop because it looked so nice. We spoke to Mel & she suggested 2 wines that we enjoyed enough to have more than 1 glass. Mel was super friendly, knowledgeable & we would come back again for sure. It is a very nice place to stroll around or sit & enjoy the view

Adorable little stop for wine tasting in Julian! My friends and I were driving into town for the day and stumbled across this tasting room and we were not disappointed! There is a vineyard and apple orchard that you can explore on the property. There is plenty of parking, a public restroom, and both indoor and outdoor seating. The employees were very friendly and welcoming. They were very knowledgeable and able to guide us in choosing wines to taste based on our preferences. All of the wines we tasted were good, nothing to complain about. The wines are very light and fruity, full bodied and not so much on the dry side. Their Chardonnay was a personal favorite. The picnic tables and chairs outside overlook the vineyard and apple orchard which makes it a perfect spot for enjoying a snack or meal and a bottle of wine. I can’t wait to come back here and wine taste and also explore their apple picking area when apple season comes (around September)!

First time visit on a Thursday early October 2018. I am not we are not sophisticated palates. This is a small private winery with a friendly dispostion. Melanie (Mel) the host was engaging, upbeat, and generous with the discounts. We did the (6) glass wine tasting. Melanie the host started us off with some "whites.". The wine tasting was actually somewhat tailored to my individual likes. I noted at the beginning I am "partial" to cherry, blackberry, and fruit notes as well as apricot. Also my preference for more sweetness and less dryness. I very much/we enjoyed the wines and would definitely buy their product. For a more private setting and a more personal experience, I highly recommend stopping by and tasting their offerings. You can easily make it a day trip by hiking in the nearby (1/4 mile) Volcan Mountain trails, dinner, and visiting the local bakery. The experience itself rates in the range of (4.4-4.8). The wines were great to us. Cheers!

Fun place near Julian, California, to taste wine and meet people. Especially during apple-picking season in the Fall. The wine is hit or miss. Most are OK. A few are quite good. Menghini winery, an estate with a celebrated, old, track record, is also just around the corner.

Their Sangiovese alone is worth the trip ? Beautiful sitting area outside with the views of the vineyard, the orchard and the Volcan mountain as a backdrop. Both times we visited, there was a cool local food vendor just next to the winery/tasting room.

Love this winery and all the people involved! Melody makes this winery. Become a member and enjoy a fabulous array of wines. They have lots of additional activities year round. Dont miss their wine club dinners! Amazing!

After apple picking, we like to walk across the way to Volcan Mountain Winery to relax for a few minutes and enjoy a glass of their yummy apple wine. They usually have live music and food vendors with plenty of outdoor seating. Price for a glass is $9 and $28 for a whole bottle. We typically will enjoy a glass there and buy a couple of bottles to gift.

Amazing winery experience! Mel is amazing, friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend the Double Gold Medal Winner 2017 Carignan, McCormick Ranch Vineyard, San Diego County. The winery is 2 miles outside the historic town of Julian. Totally worth the trip!
