Misleading Advertising and Hidden Fees – A Disappointing Experience

I signed up for a "month-to-month" membership with Valley Fitness after seeing their advertisement for a $29 monthly fee with "no long-term commitment." However, the reality was very different, and I ended up paying far more than expected. Here's a breakdown of what happened:

Unexpected Initial Charge
When I joined, I was charged $78.99 upfront. There was no clear explanation that this would be part of the cost, and it felt like an unexpected fee. The ad suggested the monthly fee was all I’d have to pay, but this initial cost was never disclosed up front.

Higher Monthly Fee
I was charged $44 each month, which is significantly more than the advertised $29 fee. It’s unclear why there’s such a large discrepancy, and the higher monthly cost wasn’t explained when I signed up.

Annual Fee
After 60 days, I was hit with an additional $39 annual fee. Again, this was not clearly communicated during sign-up. I didn’t expect to have to pay an annual fee after just two months, and it was frustrating to see this unexpected charge added to my account.

Cancellation Process and Additional Charge
After 84 days, I decided to cancel my membership through the Valley Fitness app. The app showed "cancellation pending," which was fine, but the next day I was charged another month’s fee. Apparently, there’s a 15-day advance notice required for cancellation, but this was not clearly stated when I first signed up or during the cancellation process. The lack of transparency regarding the cancellation policy was frustrating and felt like a money grab.

Final Thoughts
What was advertised as a simple, low-cost, month-to-month membership turned out to be much more complicated and expensive than expected. The initial charges, hidden annual fee, and lack of clarity around cancellation terms all left me with a negative experience. I would recommend proceeding with caution if you're considering Valley Fitness, as their pricing and cancellation policies are not as straightforward as they appear.

Clean and spacious. The locker rooms are mid-size and the showers are very basic. Staff are friendly and check everyone in, no one is sneaking past. So far, all the fellow gym goers are respectful.

I wish they offered locker rentals. It would be very nice to stash my supplies overnight and have them ready vs packing/unpacking every visit. The cleaning rags are always wet and I hope can be replaced more frequently but they honestly get so busy that they would have to replace them every 2 minuets. I can understand the difficulty trying to keep up. Wifi could be improved it’s slow to connect and will disconnect without input.

Nice sized gym with plenty of equipment and training room for specialized routines. Good price and easy registration. Even caught a $1 enrollment promo! Great parking and very roomy gym with modern equipment and audio/video.

Signed up for 6 month trainer. Told them before the 7th month not to renew. Still charged me. The employee said they cannot credit and to file dispute with bank.

Super terrible. Membership prices were insanely high. No sauna, steam room, swimming pool or gym. It's just a garage machine fitness gym. Can't say I was anything more than what you'd find in a home gym. Very disappointed.

This place has everything you need and more. The gym is always clean and organized. Friendly staff and good people, I'm happy to be a member of this gym.

It has all the equipments and they are in pretty good conditions too. Morning times are less crowded but evenings are the most busy one. You can even get class to attend if you need help from professionals .
