Surfside is a tiny Miami beach town of only one square mile. Accordingly their Veterans Park is very small. There is an inexpensive pay lot about half a block away from the park on the same side. The park is open daily 8:00 am - 10:00 pm.

The park is across the street from where the Champlain Towers once stood. Champlain Tower South collapsed at approximately 1:30 a.m. on June 24, 2001. Ninety-eight lives were lost in the tragedy. There is a temporary memorial with all of the victims names on it set up in the park.

The veterans memorial in the park is an obelisk inscribed "Dedicated to those who served in preserving this Nation". There is also a large military gun on display. This is a peaceful place to pay your respects to both the victims of the tower collapse and those who serve in the military.

In addition to the memorial aspect of the park there is also a tennis center along with three lighted courts. The center offers instructional play.

This club has gone thru a recent transformation within the past few year with new lights and court resurfacing. They run reasonably priced adult and junior programs with priority going to city residents which is overseen by the City Parks and Rec Department.

If you want to teach tennis here you must have a connection or be a city resident to follow the town ordinance.

Sometimes the facility is unmanned depending on the time of day but there is a court rental fee structure for those who want to call in advance.

They have 3 hard courts 1/2 block from the ocean right across the street from the former Champlain towers that tragically collapsed in June 2021 (see video tour attached).

The courts are a bit loud as there is a red light nearby on both sides of the club which funnel one way traffic to and from Miami Beach.so it can be loud as local rev their engines to get where they are going.

The have a tribute plaque on the grounds which is a very nice touch to commemorate all of the people who lost their lives in the tragedy.

The facility is nice and clean but we had a terrible experience with a tennis coach that works there Mr Pedro Garcia after 3 tennis lessons this guy tried to sell Marijuana to my 14 years old daughter we reported it to the police ....parents please keep away your kids from this guy.

Thank you for letting the community use your wall as a memorial space. Is so moving just to see all the demonstrations of compassion and respect for the families, this whole community needs this space so much right now. Hopefully all positive thoughts and prays will bring brighter days for everyone affected by this tragedy. God bless you 🇺🇸

I hate this place! I was driving on Harding avenue today when my car got hit with a tennis ball. I almost crash because of this. I call to complain and I got more upset because nobody answer my calls.
