Where to begin? I used to play a lot of golf but in the past 35 years, I don't think I have played 35 times. So, this year, I started playing again and made quite a bit of progress. However, winter golf in Connecticut is hard to find and it's too cold out for me.

An online search took me to Stinger's in New Britain. It's the most affordable option and has good reviews.

Today was my first experience and I really enjoyed it. Frank, the owner, was very helpful and I enjoyed chatting with him about his business and golf in general.

If you have never played indoor golf, here are my observations:

1. The distance is pretty accurate. Most of my "good" shots were comparable to what I experienced on the course, as far as distance.

2. Direction may or may not be another story. I will have to wait to judge that and then update this accordingly. I was hooking into the water (and took mulligans) A LOT.

3. Putting is as I expected. I think most people will just try to lag it close enough for a "gimme" or you can select automatic 2-putt. TIP: My putting accuracy improved when I placed the ball in front of the indentation in the floor.

4. I recommend the driving range option for your first hour. It may take you a full hour to get used to swinging indoors and using the tees provided.

5. This is a family-friendly environment. Behave.

Brand new facility, Trackman simulator bays, Beverage Bar, and the owner Frank is a great guy! Super helpful and engaging with his customers. I was running a few minutes late and Frank allowed me to start my time when I arrived and allowed me to use the full 90-min session with no extra charge. Anytime I mention going to hit golf balls at a simulator, I tell my golf buddies to also go see Frank at Stingers in New Britain.

Went today with a bunch of coworkers and the atmosphere and staff were top notch. Has options for golfers and novice players, I'll definitely go back. Plus affordable drinks as well as rates.

Brought a few of my girlfriends and co-workers here one day after work and we had a BLAST! Great drink selection, Trackman offers mini-games that are very fun and you can also choose to play courses from all over the world. Will be returning to watch Football on the big screen & dial in on my swing. Owner was also super cute 😉

Awesome place to have a couple drinks and swing the sticks. Had a blast playing the Pebble beach course. Owner was really helpful getting our group set up and answering any questions. Will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

Had a fantastic time here with the company! The space is large with many different bays for indoor golf, it was easy to find any golf club I wanted (didn't have to bring my own clubs), and Frank the owner made sure we had what we needed to have a fun outing. Would go here again!
