If you're going to read any review, read this one. This review is mostly about the Miami location as I didn't take boats out often from the other locations. I was a member of the boat club for 3 years that just recently ended January 31st. After 3 years, I would not recommend this boat club to anyone. The way they run the club feels like they have zero business sense at all. They call it a membership club, but they could care less about treating there members the right way. I have spoken to Chris the dockmaster about this many times and it's like they could care less about members voicing opinions or concerns. One of the reasons I didn't even think about renewing my membership after 3 years is because of RON (The "mechanic") who also works the dock (like checking members in and interacting with members). This guy is the most miserable person I've met in a long time. He basically likes to give people attitudes like its a privilege for us to take a boat out, meanwhile we are paying members. There is no boat club without paying members and he wouldn't have a job if there were no paying members. Why they have him interacting with members is something I could never figure out. Even after telling Chris many times, it never changed. Every single dock hand has agreed with me as well. I was even told by a dockhand that the owner of the boat club, knows all the complaints about Ron and just doesn't care. Communication with Chris was horrible. Last time I voiced my concerns to him, he really had nothing to say because he knew that I was right and I had every right to be upset.. Besides Ron treating members horribly, the condition of the boats weren't great (I always reserved the Cobias). I've had many occasions where the motor would just stop working while at cruising speed. The seats are always broken and loose, rusted locks, broken radios, blue tooth would rarely work. The propellers on the boat are cheap plastic and have broken on me before at cruising speed. What does he actually do if he is the mechanic and the boats are always in poor shape? Can't figure that out. The new Miami river location is not ideal as it takes 30 minutes to get out of the river and 30 mins to get back to the marina. Plus having to gas up which takes at least 30 minutes, so if you have a 4 hour reservation, you really have 2.5 hours of going where you want. The only positive thing I can say about this boat club is about some of the other dock hands. Isaac, Efren, and Rubin have always been great to me and friendly. They really should have these guys running things as they are the ones who most deserve it. They have always greeted me with a smile and made the process of taking a boat out enjoyable. I've told Chris on numerous occasions that as a boat club, there should be two main goals for the member to do after 3 years. 1 - to recommend the club to someone else and 2 - renew membership. They have failed both, as I would never recommend the club to someone else, and I would never in a million years renew membership with South FL Boat Club. Take your money elsewhere, even if you have to pay a little more. It will be worth it.

We have been members for 8 years and we feel the service had done down-hill probably together with a huge uptick in their membership. Hard to find dates, boats are dirty often times like today (see pics) disgusting, we told the employees and they said this was the cleanest boat available. My husband complains of broken things that we only find out when we are in the middle of the ocean, missing parts. Finally, parking is a mission. Impossible to talk to anyone on the phone. Their customer service sucks. We stick with them because there are no options, the moment a competitor comes we jump ship. And it is dropo simpler and cheaper than owning.

It's a good value. But, there are lots of rules and restrictions. No night time use, for example. There is no fuel on site.

Joining the SFBC was one of the best decisions I ever made since moving to Miami. Of course for the obvious reasons but also because of the club and the staff. The club itself is very organized, very well run and very reasonably priced. They do a great job of preparing you for your boating license and captaining their boats. I had never driven a boat prior to joining SFBC. The staff makes the entire experience as a member enjoyable. I’m on a first name basis with almost every crew member and aside from just being super friendly and great people, they are also very professional and helpful in making every departure and arrival a safe and easy one. Can’t say enough great things about the South Florida Boat Club and happy to be with them 2.5 years and counting!

We love the South Florida Boat Club. Unfortunately, they are not at the Virginia Key Location anymore but you can find them now at a the TNT Marina in North Miami (next to the Keystone Marina) and the Regal Miami on the Miami River.
