I recently had the pleasure of night skiing at Sun Ski, and it was truly an awesome experience. The skiing sessions ran from 6 to 10 pm on a Saturday evening, providing a unique and thrilling atmosphere under the night sky. One notable aspect was the manageable crowd, which enhanced the overall enjoyment of the experience.

Despite not opting for the training sessions, I appreciated that they were available for those interested, even if at an additional cost. This flexibility allows skiers to tailor their experience based on their skill level and preferences.

The cost of lift and rental, at around $80 per person, seemed reasonable given the enjoyable evening on the slopes. The variety of skiing levels and practice areas ensured that both beginners and more seasoned skiers could find suitable terrain to explore. The quality of the snow added to the enjoyment, creating favorable conditions for a memorable skiing adventure.

The standout feature, however, was the exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Their gentle demeanor contributed to a positive atmosphere, making the overall experience even more enjoyable. Sun Ski clearly values customer satisfaction, as reflected in the professionalism and friendliness of their team.

In conclusion, my night skiing experience at Sun Ski was nothing short of wonderful. From the diverse skiing options and good snow conditions to the accommodating staff, it exceeded expectations. I would highly recommend Sun Ski to anyone seeking an enjoyable and well-rounded skiing experience

A local mountain with good trail options...for CT!

We recently took our 2 children to go skiing at Ski Sundown. We purchased two junior night passes, which cost $40 each for kids 14 and younger (6-10 PM).

This mountain was 1 hour and 15 minutes away from our house, but it was well worth it. They absolutely loved this mountain in comparison to the other two mountains in Connecticut. Both lifts were operational, and all trails were open. They liked the challenge and complexity of these trails much better than Southington or Powder Ridge.

There is a lounge area that you can stay in and grab some quick options for food. There is also a bar, but it does close fairly early. For instance, we went on a Sunday night and it was already closed by 9:00 even though the mountain stays open until 10:00. However, that is not a deterrent for us. We will be bringing our kids back here again as they did enjoy this mountain.

We purchased tickets online in advance for snowboarding lessons at 12:30. First let me say that the snowboarding instructor Paul B was amazing! He was patient, kind, attentive, positive and enthusiastic. Lessons last 90 minutes. BUY LESSON TICKETS ONLINE IN ADVANCE THEY ARE USUALLY SOLD OUT!!!! The group had about 30 people into it so we had 3 instructors assigned to us.

What I didn't like is the sheer volume of people left us with no where to learn so we ended up at the bottom of the bunny slope. The problem is there are a line of people waiting to use the bunny slope lift and the line goes straight across the bottom of the bottom of the bunny slope. That means if you don't know how to stop (and stopping on a snowboard isn't like skiing) then you run into people. The other option is to fall, which we ended up doing a lot, and walking away with sore behinds. If the lines curved a different direction then it would've been a much experience.

There's not really much to eat there except a small grill and tables that were packed with people... Not eating...

I've been to other ski resorts and if you're a first timer go somewhere else that has proper lines and a dedicated space to learn snowboarding. That way you won't hurt yourself and can build up confidence to go this resort!

In 2023 my son invited me to go skiing with him. Despite the 30+ yrs since I last skiied. Im so happy I did it. Ski Sundown had all the right conditions that day. The weather was beautiful snow was great and the lines kept moving. I felt more relaxed with each run. Only one issue- MY long standing inability to exit the chair lift in the traditional manner. Despite my son's assist, & the VERY VERY patient operator's coaching I had to resort to an effective alternative learned years ago. >Bar up >Push off >Slide down >lay back on skiis >use hands to keep moving until far away from lift. Can't interfere with others skiing. It was an AMAZING BLESSED DAY! Like riding a bike. On skiis. TWO DOLLARS!?

Great little ski area! One of the better ones in Connecticut. The variety of terrain kept us entertained and reminded me of some of the bigger mountains up North. It had that big mountain feel even though it's a small Connecticut ski area. Didn't have to drive too far. Will definitely visit again.

First time visiting this mountain with my 8 year old whom is a new skier.

We visited on a Wednesday evening because of their Sunnyside Learning Area, which was great! This area is dedicated for brand new and novice skiers. It includes 2 magic carpets right next to each other that take you to either a small or large bunny hill, and 1 small ski lift to 3 smaller trails for those that have graduated from the bunny hill but may not be ready for the larger regular trails.

The only downside to this ski resort is that it only had 1 ski lift to take you to the top of the mountain operating, and the wait to get on was extremely long and packed with people. (edit: it has 2 main ski lifts but only 1 was operating at the time) This was on a weekday evening, so I can only imagine how much worse it would be on the weekends.

I would visit again, especially since they have night skiing every day of the week.
