I come here daily with my puppy who is very well behaved, & socially active with other dogs, small or big, there are benches, free poop bags, picnic tables, pavilions, and two separate spacious gated areas, enclosed by fence side-by-side … sadly there is not an obedience activity area here which we desperately wish as there is nothing but grass and fence for the dogs, I did donate a whole bunch of toys, but those seemed to have all got taken by the next day, aside from this, mostly everyone that we have met has been very friendly. Usually the same people group every day around the same times making it easier to build trusting connections aside from 3 people I did meet at this park who very quickly became incredibly abusive to myself and service dog ex putting my service dog in harms way letting go of her leash in an busy fast paced parking lot/ street causing danger to myself and my dog.

On the non-dog park, park side there is a very nice stream where your dog can go swimming, you can also splash in the water and 30 mile long, hiking trail along with many waterfalls and cool sights/sounds of nature you will experience along the way. Outside of the hiking area, there are picnic tables, pavilions for parties or events, as well as grills for public use- bringing your own supplies, there are two beautiful parks for the children very well-maintained,
also accessible for the handicap with handicapped accessible equipment, there is a tennis court, a basketball court, and of course Port-a Potty’s around if necessary!!! Check it out to meet a variety of amazing people and dogs!

Personally, what I like most about Peterson Park is when they have the free Summer Concert Series on most Sunday evenings from about Memorial Day until Labor Day. But there are many other features that I know many others enjoy; such as: basketball and tennis courts; a skate boarding & scooter area; playground equipment and swings for younger children to play on; a large pavilion with picnic tables in addition to the large grassy area to accommodate lots of picnicking or even some cartwheels and somersaults (if you so wish); and hiking trails for adventuring in the surrounding woods; and even a special Dog Park for Fido or FiFi, right next door.

Something for everyone. Walking trail to the waterfalls, playscape for the kids. There are tennis and basketball courts. Skate park and a few pavilions to rest or host a party. Would be nice if they could incorporate some kind of water spout/fountain feature for the kids in town during the summer. Plenty of room for it. Dog-friendly.
