I've been on many trips with the OAC, mostly backpacking but also sea kayaking and river canoeing. I can't recommend them enough! Their guides are all incredibly friendly, supportive people who really know their stuff and make the activities accessible — I learned to backpack from Beth and Mike, and the fact you can rent almost all the gear from them too makes this a great way to try it out. Especially if you don't have a group of friends who are into the outdoors, the OAC is a great way to see the most beautiful parts of California!

I had a great experience (re)familiarizing myself with top roping in Castle Rock with OAC. Our instructor (Nate) was very knowledgeable. I'd do another trip with OAC in a heartbeat!

If I could take OAC’s AIARE 1 and Rescue class every week, I would! I cannot recommend it enough! Richard was our instructor and he was so full of enthusiasm and passion. The course completely surpassed my expectations and I feel so confident planning a safe tour and mitigating my risks. We learned so much, most importantly, we learned how to create an appropriate plan based on the avalanche report, the weather, and our team. Not only did we learn a lot, my entire group had so much fun!! Thank you!!

I joined the Outdoor Adventure Club in 2022 (plus some of their online seminars during COVID lockdown) and have done 11 of their events: day hikes, backpacking, avalanche safety, snowshoeing, and one weekend hiking/camping trip. (Haven't done any of their rock climbing, kayaking, surfing or ski/snowboard trips yet, but maybe in the future.) Always had a good time with them. Also the pricing for their day hikes, weekend camping, and backpacking trips is lower than many other guided trips. Just be sure to read the description of the events carefully, as they do a good job of explaining what to expect, how strenuous the hiking will be, and what skills are expected of the participants.
