1 line review: Strange layout that could be fun if they maintained it. It seems the owners are sitting on this as a property investment waiting for the right times to turn it into a housing development.

Played here in a scramble outing. It has been at least ten years since I last played here and I only live 15 minutes away. Fore reference, it is the dead of summer, we've had plenty of rain and plenty of sun.

Conditions:
The course conditions are pretty atrocious. Things that should not be issues are. No grass in tee boxes, especially tees that you hit irons from. When I say no grass, I mean they're just dirt.

Fairways aren't bad comparatively, but are also super long and uneven.

Rough and around the greens. This course just has whatever grass felt like growing. I think the staff went on Amazon and bought a bag of mystery seed, and whatever took, took. There are combos of native grass plus Bermuda grass like you're down in Florida. I believe the greens are Bermuda too, you get grain unlike most courses up here. Mixed into all the grass is random weeds and crab grass. You have no idea where your ball is going to end up and how it is going to play. In a 6" circle near the green you could be in thick native grass rough, or Bermuda, or crab grass, or a completely bare spot of dirt.

Greens were soft, cut super long, and filled with pitch and spike marks. Nothing rolled true and were some of the slowest I've played all year. To top it off, I don't know if they've moved the pins in weeks as some of the holes were closer to different forms of quadrilaterals than circles. 16th hole had a temporary green that we didn't know about until we arrived to it.

The bunkers were basically rough 2.0. Many of them did not have defined edges and had grass growing in the center of them.

Layout:
Hawks Landing has a seriously interesting layout. It is under 6000yds from the tips on the card, and even less in actuality. Many of those tips have been removed completely. Every par 5 is par 4 length. Many par 4's are reachable from the tee. And then there are a couple of jacked par 3's to make up some length.

Overall it does require you to think about shot positioning. But it for sure was not designed by anyone with a background in course design. Many courses in CT are short, but they make sense compared to this place. Not a single par 5 did we have more than 160yds in on our second shots for example.

Driving range:
Go down the road to Chris Cotes before showing up. The range is short, and the mats are literally worn through to the ground underneath.

Service/dining:
The restaurant here I believe is leased from the course. The food was not great, especially for the price. The service was poor as drinks never came out and food was forgotten about. However, the atmosphere is really nice.

Overall:
There are a handful of other places you could better spend $60 on a round nearby that are a much better deal. Unless someone buys this place and spends a lot of money renovating it, I'd stay far away. This is a $20/18 holes after work kind of place.

My wife and I attended the Hawks Landing premier of Rock This Town Orchestra this past Saturday Night. The show was fantastic! Upbeat Christmas songs and a great environment made for a perfect date night.
The food was tremendous! Fig jam and ricotta bruschetta, Chicken Milanese topped with tomatoes and mozzarella and the pasta with meat balls found their way to my plate several times. My favorite was the chicken Milanese though. It was so good, I requested to speak with the chef. Chef Dante explained he used long hot peppers in the lemon caper sauce which gave it a slight kick. It was delicious.

Credit must also be given to the wait staff. They were very attentive to clean used plates, empty glassware and silverware from the tables.

We will be returning to see what other events are in the future. Cheers to Hawks Landing for a great night out!

My husband and I attended a Christmas event at Hawks Landing of Rock This Town Orchestra last Saturday Night. We had so much fun! The band was amazing and the atmosphere was so festive! As a vegetarian I appreciated all the vegetarian friendly food options. They even had a special meal prepared for me, it was a stuffed pepper and it was delicious!

I had the pleasure of attending Hawks Landing this past Saturday Nov 23rd; what a great show! I've been here before, but only at outdoor events. Always impressed. The decor was very festive, and I didn't realize there was so much more space indoors beyond the outdoor patio/tent areas!
The band had an old fashioned Elvis-Era feel, playing all-time Holiday favorites.
The waitstaff was very kind, attentive, and smiling which was nice compared to other banquet halls. Staff gets a 10 out of 10.
The bar made excellent Espresso Martini's as well!
Food was excellent. There was 2 sides of the buffet line which is such an important factor for large crowds/lines to move smoothly, and there was something for everyone. I'm a lover of salad, and of course that's what I piled my plate with only to find out that there was soo many more options! I loved the chicken in light lemon cream sauce. The meatballs were tasty, and weren't so big so that was also an important pleasantry. The huge meatballs other places have little to no flavor.
The veggies were a medley which I particularly enjoyed, and potatoes in a separate tray. If I wasn't so full, I would've gone up for more of that chicken though.
The evening came to an end with desserts and the cannolis were VERY good.
Overall, this hall is the perfect spot for weddings, large events and gatherings. I enjoyed my time here and would return!

I don't even know where to start, the beginning is probably best I guess. After searching many venues we fell on Hawks, I wasn't particularly thrilled with being a "country club bride or a "golf course bride" but in lieu of not finding anything we liked, I placed a call to Hawks to see if we could tour the Bella Vista to have our October wedding at. My call was picked up by McKenzie; who by all accounts and everything she was saying was the SOUL reason I was interested in doing more than just "touring". She had the most assuring, calming, and knowledgeable presence over the phone. I was "sold" instantly, without even seeing the venue myself.
A few weeks later we tour, I end up loving it. If you've never been married before, or have no idea what goes into weddings or wedding planning, it's chaos (mostly) there are many unknowns, a lot of vendors and outside influences you have to rely on- I felt confident in relying on Mckenzie and her team. They absolutely without a hitch nailed every single detail in a very professional, very friendly manner. I have deducted a star as you can see, and that's for the affiliation of the "caterers" that hawks use's,there will be a separate review for them as nothing in this review, currently echos the "experience" we received with "Spice" catering.
Thank you Hawks Landing and team for bringing everything together and making the entire wedding smooth and enjoyable.

Definitely have your wedding here.
Definitely work with McKenzie and her staff.
Definitely look into different catering options.

Melissa at Hawks Landing Country Club worked with us to make our wedding perfect down to every last detail. With all of the changes to gathering restrictions (our guest list size changed 4 times!), not once did we worry about minimums or deposits, Melissa worked with us every step of the way. The venue was flexible, accommodating and out for our best interest which was such a relief when we had enough to stress about. The space was absolutely perfect. We got married in the Fairway Room. My bride loved that as she walked down the aisle, the French doors opened. We took first look photos on the patio and they came out beautiful. The venue was so perfectly decorated already and then to add our gold/glittery NYE themed items, it was breathtaking. Melissa thought of every little thing and our wedding was seamless because of her. We can’t say enough about all Melissa did for us and how much we recommend Hawks Landing! 12/31/2020
