Previously I rated the Fort Myers Y with a 5, I no longer feel that way.
They accepted my UHC insurance the first 3 months of '24 and when starting back with them this Jan. I thoroughly enjoyed taking the yoga class and an active adult strength class.
Last week I was informed by the staff at the Y they now can only accept UHC if I'm a "Premier" member. Our insurance agent said that isn't even an
option where we live.

We love the YMCA and their sports programs.
When we first moved here becoming apart of the Y was a must. Friendly atmosphere, caring staff who are more than just staff to our family. Thankful for this YMCA and all of its members, volunteers & employees.

I'm from illinois and vacation in the area every year in January as well as a member of my local YMCA and have a nation wide membership. This YMCA pauses their nation wide membership until early April and wants members like me who pay a monthly membership fee to pay a 10 dollar fee each time thereafter.
They give you a free 3 day pass. This place is a rip off and don't understand the meaning of their acronym. Won't ever be back and considering dumping my local membership as well.

It's kind of a daycare that's pretending it's a gym. If you're not a parent or retired, they don't care about making you happy. Maybe if I had fallen into their prefered demographics, see above, I would have had a better time. Sometimes companies need to remember who funds them all year round, and not just during specific months of the year.

I’ve been part of the YMCA for over 30 years, this Fort Myers location is by far the worst YMCA that I’ve even been to, I’m embarrassed to tell my kids that this is where I came as a kid, only my YMCA was in New York. This YMCA is old, run down, not kept up, not accommodating to its members, the gymnasium is always full of toddlers, I signed my kids up to be able to play indoor basketball but in 2 months they have only been able to play twice and we’ve come dozens of times. I had no idea this place was a full time day care with tons of little kids running around with not enough adults to take care of them. Probably won’t get any money back for this waste of time and money.

I would not even rate this a 1 star. My family and I have known people who would attend other Y programs and haven’t heard anything concerning about it. This summer we decided to allow our son to join a sports camp. My son was playing basketball, another kid picked him up off his feet and slammed him to the ground. Not once, but twice. This kid was 3x the size of my kid and NOT ONE Y employee interfered. Instead the boys got up and went to two different counselors explaining the situation and the Y made a FALSE “Ouch” report LYING about the situation. The next morning my husband spoke to the counselor who wrote the report, my sons version and his matched he admitted to never writing the false report. No one fessed up to writing the false report. Instead they fired the young kid who told the truth! The Y never called me to inform me what happened & still isn’t reaching out. There are untrained teens watching your children as they roam free. The place is left a mess and again the things they allow are enough to make you sick. I HIGHLY recommend no matter how desperate you are to have childcare for your child that you think twice - I will never send him to any Y programs- and neither should you.
