If you want to walk in the canopy of the trees, walk toward the campsite. The other trail is in the sun and brutal in the summer.
It hasn't been mowed in a while, the grass was pretty tall. There's better trails in the area to go rather than this one. This one would be good in the winter. Didn't see any birds or squirrels. It's a decent hike but nothing spectacular to see. I wouldn't come here for bird watching. I probably wouldn't return to this exact one. Yates marsh and starvation slough are better. If you like being hot and walking in the sun, then this is the place for you.

Just pull up micro or florida trail micro and you will see that the area surrounding that primitive camp site is gov land there is 100s of Acres of government owned land between Road NW144th trail and I believe 98N that micco PCamp site is off. You need to look up that Highway. It's really pretty back in there but the map showing the government areas which is on both sides of the Kissimmee river is very very confusing and there's a lot that is on that map that you'll never find. Things that just dont exist. Like boat ramps. One we found is only accessible by four-wheel drive. I wouldn't even consider it a boat ramp. It's just a bunch of sand leading down to the Kissimmee River. There are hiking trails that you will notice that will be visible by white dotted lines when you look up this area. It is also open for other use. The web site will tell you all the rules and regulations for that. Again the little primitive sites that they have are just that primitive and they are back off into the property.

What a super hike! From the road I had concerns that alot of it would be exposed and pasture style but I did close to 4 miles in and was covered 98% of the time!
FTA should be proud of this section....very well marked. Neat to see how high the water can get and the oaks are tremendous. Brings you back to old Florida and thoughts of the thru hikers and their own journey. Alot to see!

Great quiet bare bones camping. Bring it in , bring it out . No amenities at all so don't forget your provisions.
