Coolers with water on the carts when we arrived. Gps was annoying but kept us in line. It was a bit toasty but a fun course to play! Bathrooms on the course need some love but they work!

I was excited to play here today but I was let down by the condition of the course. For $54 as the resident rate I was expecting more, I also understand that the several greens have been repaired and they are preparing for the city amateur. The course itself is open with a lot of scoring opportunities while the layout give you several options to attack the course. There are several areas in and around the clubhouse that needs repairs and the staff are friendly, and are knowledgeable of the course and it’s history. There were quite a few times I had to reverse he golf cart as I unknowingly entered restricted areas. I would like I see signs directing where the carts need to go or maybe those areas roped off. The clubhouse offers a variety of handheld food and has ample seating. You’ll be able to find Wilson and Srixon golf balls and products to include clubs. I am rooting for this course to return to its former glory as it is a must play course when visiting Savannah.

Just wanted to say my sons just played the Savannah City Am tournament here. Wow. It was in better shape than I have seen it in 10 plus years. Take it for what it is... Its a really good public Donald Ross course. They have done a lot of work on the greens and it is paying off. I run Jr Golf Tournaments year around and we stopped coming last year to this property. I will be back playing my Under Armour Tour here in the spring. Really impressed.

Please do not be fooled, like I was, by reviews saying the greens are in great shape. The attached pictures each represent a different green and are not multiple pictures of a singular green. Pictures are from September of 2024.

Fairways and greens are maintained and in good condition though tee boxes show signs of frequent use. The areas that are mostly out of play are left on the wild side, and that’s OK by me. It’s a very playable course that isn’t overly penal. Some might say it’s easy, as if any golf is easy. The terrain is flat so Ross used bunkering, dog legs, raised greens, and trees for defense. There are a few lateral hazards, particularly the hole wrecking stream on #18, but generally, one can survive quite a few disobedient shots. The mature trees with their hanging moss and the din of crickets and cicadas add to the parkland feel and overall, it’s very fun to play and a good value too.

Great course and wasn’t too busy and we didn’t feel very rushed.

Service was meh felt very rushed.

Course was nice but the 9th hole finishes in the middle of the course. If you’re walking it’s a nice walk but be prepared to walk all the way back. The golf carts are well equipped and even has an iPad with course information. While we liked walking the cart might have worked better as it had more information on the course (distance, maps, etc.)

Defiantly will visit if in the area again.

If this place doesn’t deserve a 1 star review, I don’t know what does. I felt like I was in a movie or a prank TV show. Unquestionably the worst golf experience I have ever had.

The outrageous fees will lend you to a HORRIBLY maintained course, nasty “clubhouse” and incompetent staff.

The “clubhouse” is a strange combination of unpleasant people and unhappy employees. The staff did not know when our tee time was, how to rent clubs, or even what beverages they had. Literally nothing went smoothly…just like the greens on the course.

Half of the course was under construction (not disclosed) and half of the remaining greens looked like those pictured. Literally sand and seed. I have never seen anything like it.

To top things off, sprinklers came on during the day so we couldn’t even enjoy putting whatsoever.

A complete disaster and day ruiner from beginning to end for those of us tourists who traveled to come here. Wouldn’t wish a place like this on my worst enemy, and certainly anyone who respects the game of golf.

Gem of a course. Bacon Park was a real pleasure to play at, and made for an amazing day of golf. From the unique course layout to the sincere hospitality of the owner—this place was great. I’d also like to mention the carts were phenomenal with the intuitive touch screen monitors. The owner made time to drive out and ensure we were having a great time. Very friendly staff and great rates. Definitely will be back soon!
