Played 18 today on a set of great rental clubs. Contrary to recent posts, the course was in great shape. Tees greens and fairways. Played soft throughout. Couldn't have been more pleased with the course and the folks I played with. I'll be back.

I picked up golf during the pandemic like so many other golfers. This golf course is perfectly suited for my current skill level, which I would say is anywhere between beginner-intermediate (average score of high 80s from the tips). Frustratingly, I have struggled to match those scores on other golf courses. It’s flat, so you can walk easily. Greens are in good shape most of the time. Fairways can be better but the staff are doing their best, I think. I have played the course right after heavy storms, and it is still playable. Unfortunately, the course lost a lot of trees during last winter’s storms, so the course has gotten even easier. If you are looking for a golf course to have some fun while testing your skills, Poplar Creek Golf Course is a great option. It is definitely one of the cheaper courses in the Bay Area with a decent short game practice area, putting greens, and driving range. It has a nice restaurant as well. Pro shop has a great selection and folks there are nice. The only downside is that it can be pretty slow during the weekends at times but only understandable.

This was my first time playing golf in California, and it was also my best golf experience. I felt so cool and free! A way to live in harmony with nature, it made me feel the beauty and tranquility of nature! I highly recommend this golf course!

Course is in terrible condition. Greens were average at best. Fairways looked more like a well used dog run. Tee-boxes aren't ever flat and the grass is as long as the rough. Bunkers were hard and had weeds growing in them. Understandably they have to over Water at night, but then they run their mowers in the morning. So there are huge skid troughs throughout the course with standing water and mud bogs. I understand it's a muni course with limited budget, but at least take pride in tee and green and address standing water...

Unfortunately the management has let the fairways dry out beyond repair. It would take a heavy rain winter to bring back what used to be a great course just months ago. The greens are not in bad condition. The restaurant is excellent. Many new trees have been planted to replace the old trees damaged in the recent winds.
