Excellent classes and instructors. My daughter tried a trial period with Coach Vic, he was very professional and thorough. He was great with the kids, and able to keep them focused on the mats. My daughter can’t wait to go back, it was such a fun and safe environment for her.

Great atmosphere and family friendly gym! The staff is very attentive, highly knowledgeable and welcoming. They are able to help you out in any aspect of your training whether it's your first day on the mats and are looking for something new or just looking to get in shape or you're a skilled competitor looking to increase your game. Great gym, family friendly and always welcoming. Our oldest neurodivergent son has been training here for almost 2 years. He’s learning great skills. The coaches are thorough breaking down the new moves and our son is always excited to go to class. Now our youngest just joined and is loving it too.

Poway BJJ is the best! I have a blackbelt in American Karate and a few years ago started looking to expand my martial arts experience. I was recommended to Jeff and Vic, who own this gym. Joining Poway BJJ was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. They are terrific instructors that take the time to get to know every student and work with us to meet our training goals. If you just want to get in shape while learning a new skill, they can do that. Do you already know a bit and want to be a successful competitor? They can help you do that too. The kids classes are great. My son and daughter enjoy these classes and it gave them a lot of confidence in their physical development.

But what really sets this gym apart is the atmosphere. Jeff and Vic have cultivated a welcoming experience where a lot of friendships have been made. Whenever someone new joins the gym, the rest of the students go out of their way to help them get up to speed and feel comfortable in class.

I’ve gone to, and looked at, other BJJ gyms. Of all the places I’ve looked at Poway BJJ cares more about my progress than the others. I highly recommend coming here.

Out of the five gyms I visited, Poway BJJ is the only one I've used in my jiu jitsu journey, for the reasons I am able to explain. Excellent instructors and a clean gym. I was drawn to the gym and have stayed because of its vibes and atmosphere. This club really stands out because to Vic and Jeff, two excellent instructors, and a terrific group of other jiu jitsu practitioners from all courses. A friendly environment, good foundations and training, and no ego. Should you want to begin your adventure into jiu jitsu, Poway BJJ is an excellent choice.

Poway Jiu Jitsu is a fantastic place to train. The affiliation with Barret Submissions plus the excellent coaching of Victor and Jeff keep the training innovative so we never get stale in our training. We don’t do 20 minutes of jumping jacks and calisthenics then FINALLY get to the lesson; rather, we have a quick, intense warmup then get right to the technique. This is a chilled out family-friendly jiu jitsu gym for everyone from the intense competitor to the mom/dad/grandma/grandpa who just wants to exercise and learn a solid art of self defense. I came from a rigid jiu jitsu gym where everyone had to wear the gym’s expensive gear like a uniform and we were stuck in a strict curriculum that discouraged change and innovation. So training at a gym like Poway Jiu Jitsu is a welcome change for me and I couldn’t be happier.
