It would be more accurate to describe the “villas” as rustic cabins. We stayed as a family of 4; disappointed both rooms had king beds instead of one room with twins for our teens. The interior decor and appliances were very dated; lots of nasty stains on the carpets; old appliances; sheets and towels used to be white but were off white/grey and smelled musty. One of the two toilets kept clogging and one of the blinds was broken. There’s only one restaurant that’s decent within 30 miles. We were charged 700 a night and I expected luxury for that price. It’s more worth like 300-400 night for the villas. When I tried to book a massage since they rave about their spa, the massage therapist said the spa was just her and she booked out a yr in advance. Overall really embellished marketing! Great views. Great hiking around the lakes and great golf. Nice staff but main restaurant is understaffed.

Checked in at 7:30pm and was given a 745pm reservation for dinner. Upon arrival we were told they were overbooked and under-staffed even though the restaurant was half empty? They were out of two entrees with a limited menu to begin with? Room was slightly better than the typical Hampton Inn and the Rec Center was just like a YMCA with nicer deck chairs. Certainly not worth the $400/night charge. Gold course was very difficult but beautiful and enjoyable.

Ellen at the front desk is great! I called in to add a gift card to someone’s room staying with them as a special gift and she called me back right away to help me! She was very sweet and quick! Thank you for your amazing service!

We stayed in a studio villa. The location is amazing, and it is definitely a lovely feeling of being away but with all the comforts. Service is lovely. A great getaway!

It was a good timing as there was NO ONE here so it was pretty much a resort to ourselves. We stayed at the Inn at Nakoma, very simple but nice. The staff was friendly, the room was basic (bed was firm but nice, a good size bathroom, a desk area under the tv) a bit noisy in the morning as people are up and moving around (about 7ish) but manageable. 42 rooms and only 17 rooms with people while we were here. The altitude is a bit up the hill, but sure is nice! Basketball and rock climbing indoor, a rec room with pool, shuffle board, and fosball, a “movie theater”. The pool is a good size and the hot tub was nice, bar inside with some other seatings which is nice. Beautiful building. Just odd it’s so separate from the Inn. The main restaurant by the golf area has a beautiful view from it and is nice. Dinner has a select small options but food was good, a bit slow but good, breakfast was much better with good food options! We came for a couple weekend getaway, but it’s also very good for children I believe. Close to lots of trails and outdoor activities. Overall it was nice, not sure if we would stay again since we only live an hour away 🙂

Probably more enjoyable for golfers, people that like to be secluded, camping trip, etc. Scenery was beautiful which is the only reason its getting a 4 for location. I was in town for business and this is where we stayed. The time it takes just to get to a Target, Walmart, any chain store.. about an hour drive. So just make sure to get what you need from whatever city you fly into. The front desk staff was great and very helpful in giving restaurant recommendations. Only reason i am giving a low rating is because of my actual room
2 Queen beds golf view:
1. My bed felt like i was sleeping on a college dorm bed
2. There were ants in my room. Woke up to them in my shower or on/swimming in the toilet every day.
3. No microwave in the rooms. But they do have a "shared one in a room with ice machine that you can use"
4. I couldn't see the golf course from my patio at all

Golf course only. Clubhouse is a Frank Loyd Wright design and beautiful. Staff are excellent. Bartender super. The course is way too difficult to really have fun. It is penal, seemingly unfair, too precise and too hilly and I am a single digit. Lots of lost balls by the group. Our wives, who are both decent golfers, had a terrible time just negotiating the layout. Has wonderful views and was in good shape. Would not play it again.

My husband and I went to the Nakoma Resort for our 21st anniversary in Jan 2023. My husband booked the resort for 2 nights thru their website. They were advertising a winter rate of 20% off. After much confusion on booking to get the 20% off, he finally managed to get the 20% off. Afterwards, I noticed that the reviews kept mentioning an unexpected Resort fee when checking out. He did not see the charge on the reservation or any mention. he called to clarify if they charged a Resort fee. The staff said that they do charge a Resort Fee, daily , it covered for use of the pool. My husband was not happy because they were not transparent with the Fee. He asked to speak to the manager. |That was our mistake. A day before we were to arrive ...|The manager called us back, she was extremely rude, insisted that the resort fee was clearly in the fine print of our reservation and the only thing she could do is upgrade us to a golf course view. She could not waiver the Resort Fees. We could not cancel the reservation because it was 24 hrs prior to our tripl|We arrived to a decent room, nothing special. It is January, so the golf course view was snow covered. We were next to the road. the restaurant and pool is located a drive down the road and has very limited food choices. The Resort was deserted. |The best part of the trip (tongue and cheek) was around 2 am when our next door neighbor started cursing ,shouting and slamming doors . The place is practically empty and this was our upgraded room. They put us in a room next to a mentally ill person. |FYI they do not have any staff at night and they lock the doors at 8 pm. The next day we did our best to enjoy our time together. We were to afraid to ask for a new room( because this is an upgraded room). So, we|came back to our room that evening. Its quiet and we thought we would have a restful night. Not so! We were woke up again same time and lots of cursing, wall slamming etc. |Avoid this place at all cost. Over priced . Mean spirited and spiteful manager. Awful experience, no sleep at all. |||||||||||||||f|
