Just joined to find out that this club has the least welcoming environment I have encountered. Their main pistol range specifies FOUR SECONDS pause between shots. Why on Earth 4? If you want to use their action range, you have to sign up for a class, which would be reasonable if it did not occur only twice a month and there was a long waiting list. What a disappointment. I am seriously considering asking my money back. And some of their RSOs are a-holes, but I guess that is not unique to this club.

I finally found time to write this much needed follow up to my original post. The reason for that is it turns out that the owners of the establishment clearly thought that my original review is unfair (more about it below) and I realized that I need to tell the whole story, so that everyone has an opportunity to decide for themselves who is who. Upon signing up I showed up at the club one Saturday and was greeted by a very nice gentleman, who checked me in. He saw a holster on my hip and told me that I cannot use it at this range, and I promised that I will not attempt to holster the gun or use holster in any other way. I proceeded to the range, where I encountered one of the RSOs, let’s call him hmmm…. Harry. There was a lady two stalls away from me and Harry was buzzing like a bee around her, even taking her revolver and taking several shots at the target to show off his skills. During the next break in shooting, I made a mistake of approaching the bench to put my loaded magazines on it while people were still looking at their targets in the field. However, seeing Harry’s panicked expression, I immediately backed away showing to Harry that I understood his concern and realized my mistake. Despite that Harry chose to approach me and gave me a 3-minute lecture. Harry noticed my holster and embarked on another tirade on the evil nature of holsters. I assured him that I am aware of range’s rules and am not planning to use holster in any capacity. I proceeded to loading my gun and firing it, while Harry positioned himself right behind my back staring at me intensively. After some initial shooting Harry notified me that I am shooting too fast (see the 4-second rule in the original review). I have to admit that while I was not using my usual shooting speed or did any double tapping, I did discharge shots with shorter than 4 seconds intervals. I did my best to do 4 sec count in my head, but Harry kept telling me that I am still shooting too fast. Eventually I decided to match the shooting speed of my neighbor in the next stall, since Harry did not appear to have any problems with his shooting. However, that was clearly not enough as Harry notified me that I had repeatedly failed to follow his instructions and that I needed to leave the range for the day. I was obviously disappointed by this but, I decided not to press the issue and leave for the day. Harry escorted my back to the office, grabbed my driver’s license and without asking for the permission, start taking pictures of it. Again, I decided to let it go. Then Harry launched in a long tirade about the necessity to follow the rules, but the cherry on top was him telling me: “Do not bring your holster next time, IT WOULD NOT BE GOOD FOR YOU”. So now we got to the threats - lovely. Again, I decided not to escalate and simply left the premises. Upon returning home I wrote the original review (please see above) describing the ridiculousness of the situation. My review clearly did not sit well with the people in charge of the club, as couple days later I received an email from them stating that they are rescinding my membership. All that despite me being previously told that my suspension from the range was only for one day.
Kudos to those of you who actually read this rather long post. I advise you is to stay away from this club, until they fix their rules and do some much-needed training of the RSOs in client management.

This post is by Jamie Dhillon. Mike, thank you for being helpful to my husband and me when practicing on our new shotgun. Paul, you really need to work on your social skills. My experiences up until today have been great, and I have been happy being a member. Now, I will be searching for a new gun club and doubt I will return to this one. Thanks a lot, Paul!

Came here as a first-time shooter and felt SO welcome. Mike hooked me up with John who made sure I was loading and holding my Glock properly and he would circle back around at intervals to check-in on me and add a few more pointers. He instructed me so well that I managed to hit a bull's-eye by my 30th round!

There were 2 other Range Officers whose names I didn't catch who took really great care of me too. Coming back again as soon as I can find myself some more 9mm ammo!

Misc note: I came on Easter Sunday and it seemed to be at about 60-75% capacity

My only complaint with this wonderful amazing establishment. Just wish it was closer to San Francisco. After my first visit here, I went back in and paid for an associate membership. I try coming at least once a month, sometimes every other week. Do yourself a favor and spend money here, keep this place open for our kids and their kids.

Not too many gun clubs open these days. Richmond offers a club house with fireside room, kitchen with large dining hall, amazing bar with cheap fresh draft beer and now the shooting part 200 yard rifle line, 50-100 yard rifle line. 25 yard pistol line. Action pistol courses, skeet trap and military / law enforcement training. Open to public.
