My experience with the Palisades Tennis Club has been nothing short of a nightmare. My child received coaching from Jennifer Rabbit at this club, and I made it abundantly clear to her on multiple occasions that my daughter (13 years old) and I were under a protective court-ordered restraining order against a dangerous individual. I stressed that there should be absolutely no communication, even if my daughter initiated it, to ensure her safety.

Jennifer provided reassurances that my daughter would be safe in her hands, emphasizing her commitment to tennis and my child's well-being. However, to my shock and dismay, my daughter later confided in me, because she was worried for our safety, that she had written communications, handed them to Jennifer, and were subsequently sent to the restrained party.

In response, I immediately contacted Newport Beach Police to report this violation and then reached out to the tennis club, where I spoke with Dave Brunelle, the Director of Memberships. Initially, he expressed regret and promised to investigate the matter. However, after two weeks of silence, I called Dave for an update, only to be met with a response that left me utterly flabbergasted. He informed me that they had merely spoken to Jennifer telling her, it was a "bad idea." This response not only lacked empathy but also showed a severe lack of understanding of the grave danger my child was placed in.

When I requested, at the very least, a letter of apology from both the coach and the club, acknowledging their poor judgment and the endangerment of my child, Dave's response was deeply disturbing. He stated that the coach was a "friend of the owner," insinuating that personal connections took precedence over my child's safety and my explicit directive of no communication.

Due to Jennifer’s reckless actions, a large male process server was dispatched to my child's home, from the restrained party on four occasions to serve my daughter a subpoena for court testimony due to the communication that Jennifer facilitated. This was entirely unnecessary, as my daughter's testimony had no bearing on the legal proceedings and caused severe emotional trauma to both of my daughters.

To this day, I have received no contact from the Palisades Tennis Club, and no efforts have been made to rectify the damage caused by the coach's poor judgment. This appalling lack of accountability and disregard for child safety within their establishment is unacceptable. I would strongly caution any parent against entrusting their child to this club, as it appears that no action has been taken against the coach, and the safety of children is not a priority here.

Whether you're a novice or expert player, this is the go-to club for Newport. Super friendly staff will get you set up in the right group and activities. You may take lessons or sign up for a clinic (group lesson) even if you're not a member. In addition to the courts, there is a restaurant and snack bar. Club has nice locker rooms for pro before or after playing. 10+ experience.

I have belonged to tennis clubs in Orange County for almost 30 years and I can say that the staff at Palisades tennis club is the friendliest, nicest group of people I have encountered at a private tennis club. The match arranging is first class and the players are very friendly and are very welcoming of new members. There are many activities and staff calls members frequently to ask you to participate in them. The bar scene is very active after 3pm. There are a lot of good players at Palisades.
