Fun course, in good shape, aesthetically pleasing , bit a poor overall experience. Mostly becsuse they seem to overbook their tee times, the group in front of us was late in starting, because of groups in front of them, and we had 2 groups stacked up behind us on our tee time. That made for a very rushed feel for the round, super slow pace of play, and we quit after the front 9 (3 hours) because it just wasn’t fun waiting and feeling pressed, and hearing the conversation of the group behind us sitting right behind us on each tee box.

What a great golf course! I was on vacation to Colorado Springs and my brother in law brought me to this course. Excellent. The course is very inviting for all skill levels with multiple tee boxes. The tee boxes, fairways, bunkers, and even the rough are maintained to a level close to every private golf club I’ve had the opportunity to play. The golf course secret sauce are fast beautifully manicured greens. They are like rolling a pool ball on a pool table. They really tested every bit of our skill to maintain a one or two putt average during the round.

The staff have done a superb job on this course and should be commended for their efforts. The staff are very friendly from the moment you enter the Pro shop until you depart the property.

I can’t recommend this golf course enough for every golf enthusiast that is in Colorado Springs or in the surrounding areas. Need to make their way down to Desert Hawk at Pueblo West. You will not be disappointed!

Course was nice and green for being so hot and sunny. Cart girl was around and food at the turn was perfect.

Community Service

Great spot to sit and enjoy some water or walk. Fishing is an option for children 15 and under or people with a physical disability. One downside is Dog and humans are not allowed to swim or paddle board. However that might ruin some of the peace and serenity you can find at this park.

I like that there are plenty of places to sit around the water. There’s a flower garden and even a little area to workout. The bathrooms are only open until 3PM or 1500HRS.

Very playable public course. It is in great shape. You can always get a tee time. We played on Saturday at 1 pm and reserved the tee time the day before. It was not very crowded. The greens roll very nicely. They have a reasonable driving range and practice area. The course is pretty flat. Recommend the golf carts on warm days which are plentiful in Pueblo West. 1 hour 10 minutes from Manitou Springs.

This course was in excellent shape May 2024. We are back home and still swooning over the day we had at Desert Hawk. Only complaint is that it would be more fair to only charge a half cart fee (if any) when players supply their own cart. I get not wanting to give up cart rental business; but c'mon. Still, we were blown away by this golf course. Good job to the crew!
